Volunteer on Campus at A.M. Winn

Are you interested in volunteering at school but feel like there are too many steps? It's easier than it looks and we are happy to walk you through the process -- The Guild will even pay for your TB testing and fingerprint scans!

How to Become a Volunteer

We want as many parents to volunteer on campus as possible so you and your children can benefit from being involved. Please see the Volunteer Process Step-by-Step Instructions (Google Doc) for a full overview on how to become cleared to volunteer on campus. Here is a short breakdown of the approval process:

  1. Pick up a volunteer packet in the A.M. Winn (AMW) office, complete the forms, and return them to the AMW office.

  2. Complete fingerprinting with results provided to Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD).

  3. Provide proof of negative TB test.

  4. Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

  5. Complete online volunteer training.

Once you have finished these steps, you are good to go -- We can't wait to see you at school! Please contact the main office with any questions at (916) 395-4505 or rucha-powers@scusd.edu.

Volunteer Assistance from the Guild

If you would like assistance paying the fees for fingerprinting and TB testing, or with completing the process of signing up to volunteer, we can help! The Guild's WINNing Together Volunteer Fund covers fees for any parent or caregiver of a current AMW student. If you would like help with the process of volunteering or are ready for the Guild to pay for TB testing/Fingerprinting, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Guild, we are here to assist and make the process as easy as possible. Simply email us at the following address (winncommunityguild@gmail.com) with a message explaining that you would like to utilize this opportunity. A member of the leadership team will reach out to you to coordinate.

Volunteering Opportunities

The Guild is seeking several volunteer roles to be filled for this school year - please email us at winncommunityguild@gmail.com if you would like more info about any of the following roles:

  • Crossing guard duty

  • Yearbook committee

  • Spirit wear

  • Website admin

  • Festival planning (Winter Light Walk, May Faire, etc.)

  • Fundraising committee (olive oil, See's candy, etc.)

We are also working on a plan to provide nourishment for our teachers each week - stay tuned for details!

If you're interested in volunteering with the Guild, please submit a Volunteer Interest Form located at the bottom of the Get Involved page.

Class Reps Needed

Every class at our school selects 1 or 2 class parents to serve as “class reps” for the school year. This responsibility usually rotates each year or two among classroom parents.

The class rep helps the teacher coordinate the efforts of classroom parents and co-signs all requests to use money from the classroom account. The class reps also attend monthly Guild meetings to provide input and represent the families in your child’s classroom, and to report back to your teacher and other parents on things happening schoolwide.

If you are interested in helping your child’s teacher in this way, please reach out to them!
